The Bank sponsoring the Ghana Premier League, First Capital Plus- has decided to suspend their sponsorship of the league.

This was revealed by the President of the GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi, during a press conference.

According to the GFA capo, the bank wrote to the Association announcing the decision. First Capital Plus signed a 5-year, $10m deal with the FA in 2014.

“There is a request for a suspension of the contract because the bank is undergoing restructuring. But, we are yet to engage the bank on this request.

“The Executive Committee is yet to meet and discuss this subject and if there are legal issues flowing from that we will take it up,” Nyantakyi told reporters.

The Ghana Premier league, in its current deplorable state; has struggled to attract sponsorship. Losing this deal would serve as a big blow to a franchise that’s already not doing particularly well.
