Game of Thrones star Peter Vaughn has passed away at the age of 93, his agent has revealed.
Vaughn played Maester Aemon in the HBO epic fantasy series. Aemon Targaryen, a maester who serves the order of the Night’s Watch, became something of a fan favourite character due to his mentorship of Jon Snow.
Vaughn died earlier today (December 6) in his home, his agent, Sally Long-Ines, revealed in a statement.
“This is to confirm that very sadly Peter Vaughan passed away at approximately 10.30 this morning. He died peacefully with his family around him.” she said.
Aside the fantasy HBO show, Vaughn was also known for appearing in the classic 70’s sitcom ‘Porridge’, playing the character of Harry Grout.
